Essential Oil Protocol for Bed Bugs
Bed Bug Recipe – Bites – Spray – Diffuse

What do bedbugs look like – see the photo to the left here. Since the recent outbreak of bedbug infestation, many remedies have been tried with little to no success in destroying eggs. After World War II, the problem of bed bugs virtually disappeared from America. Specifically, because the action was taken using DDT. But DDT was a deadly carcinogenic that destroyed the soil and everything else. It has been outlawed in the USA.
Essential Oil lovers prefer the Eco-friendly approach.
Research shows that tree oils work best against parasites and menacing insects. Gary Young touts the praises of Palo Santo oil as the first choice for insect repellent. This Ecuadoran tree develops a resin to protect against bug bites. Specifically, it is from the resin that Young Living distills the Palo Santo oil. Eucalyptus has been used throughout history for bed bugs. Eucalyptus Blue is the first anti-viral Eucalyptus Oil. Native American Indians relied on pine needles and Cedarwood chips in their mattresses to ward off ticks and fleas. So, let’s consider a natural approach to attack bed bugs at home and on vacation.
Bed Bug Bites
Bed bug bites do not usually require treatment. Kill live bedbugs. If a secondary infection occurs (usually from scratching), apply Rose Ointment. Add an extra drop of Melrose in a dab of Thieves oil and apply Thieves oil around the infection. If open not directly into the sore. Take Thieves in a capsule, or use Inner Defense softgels. In these more severe cases, you may need to see your health practitioner.
Bedbug or Imposter?
Don’t assume your bites are bedbugs. Bites can be hard to identify, even for doctors. Rule out mosquitoes, fleas, mites, and biting gnats by visual inspection. Beds are where bedbugs hide. Bedbugs travel. Have you clarified that you do not have Morgellons? Be sure to rule out Morgellons Disease.

It’s best to collect and identify bedbugs to confirm bites. Look for the bugs or their bloodstains. Especially look closely along the seams of mattresses. Further, look for dark spots of insect waste where bedbugs might crawl into hiding places on furniture, walls, and floors. Wash clothing and bedding in hot water and then again in hot water that will not burn a finger added 1 cap full of Thieves Cleaner and 6 drops of Purification Oil Blend.
Bite Back Against Bedbugs
Get rid of infested mattresses and box springs or cover them with a plastic mattress bag to trap the bugs. Where do bedbugs come from – wash clothes and bedding in hot water, and dry them on high heat. Clean furniture and vacuum cracks in wood floors and doors where bugs may hide. Shake out suitcases. Use your thieves spray and thieves cleaner the cracks of floors or bed frames.
Bed Bug Spray
6 drops of Eucalyptus Blue
5 drops of Cedarwood
10 drops of Palo Santo
Combine with 4 oz. Distilled Water in a dark glass Spritzer bottle.
Washing Bed Linens
Use Thieves Household Cleaner and Purification Oil Blend
2-4 capfuls of Thieves Household Cleaner for a medium to large load.
4-6 drops of the Purification oil blend.
Bug Bites
Lavender
Purification Oil Blend
Apply 1 drop of either oil to the bug bites.
Diffuse
Palo Santo
Eucalyptus Blue
Cedarwood
In a cold-air diffuser, fill the reservoir with 10-15 drops of either, Palo Santo, Eucalyptus Blue, or Cedarwood.
Spray-on Bed Between Linen Changes:

Combine with 4 oz. Distilled Water in a dark glass Spritzer bottle.
Mattress Sachets:
To go after nesting eggs, combine Cornstarch or Baking Soda in Cotton Teabags with Palo Santo, Eucalyptus Blue, and Cedarwood. Place bags on the underside of the mattress.
